Creating an effective learning environment was another much-needed workshop for the teachers taking class VI to VIII at the Kanpur Road branch. Also, for the teachers taking classes from IX to XII at the Indira Nagar branch.

The learned speaker for both the days was Professor, Ex Dean Rakesh Chandra, Dept of Philosophy, Lucknow University. He focussed the need and attention of the teachers towards imparting value-based education. The concept for love and respect for self and then student brings out more was the message.

Prof. Chandra reiterated. The reward policy to get learning done being a good incentive. The teacher was the most important tool in the imparting of value education of the 3R’s where the fourth R for relationship was the most important in the young adolescent stage. The importance of life and confidence gain to be developed by the teacher. A respected individual does better, which is the important learning achieved.

Reiterating the commitment of positive learning for all under the banner of, Education Foundation Lucknow, instituted in the loving memory of our founders Sir B.S.Sood and Ma’am Krishna Sood, an interactive series of workshops were organised. Eminent speakers were invited to share their wisdom of experience on relevant topics with the teachers.

On the 18th and 19th May at the Indira Nagar campus the primary teachers of all three branches were enriched by a workshop on, Best teaching strategies to create and sustain students’ interest in class room. The learned speaker was ‘Mrs. Geeta Kumar’, Director ‘The Laurels School’, Lucknow.

A teacher and Educationist with four decades plus of experience. She extolled the teacher to connect and engage with each child. To weave, read stories around teaching for better results, not to compartmentalise teaching, to teach and follow the love and respect for students and self, and lastly, to inculcate the love for reading. This interactive workshop of two days reiterated to the teacher the magnitude of their influence on students.

The professional enrichment programme (PEP) for teachers is a regular feature at Spring Dale which is done under the aegis of “Education Foundation”. To continue with the teachers enrichment programme, this year, an interactive workshop was conducted at The Gomti Nagar Premises on May 18 & 19, 2023 by an eminent educationist Mrs. Tamanna Raza whose expertise and skills are unparalleled. She conducted a session to strength the application of phonetics and its effectiveness in order to develop reading skills in the formative years of the child’s growth. Some valuable and practical suggestions were shared by the resource person followed by hands on activities done by the teachers taking these classes.

The Day 2 of the workshop focused on the most important aspect in these classes- The story telling. A lively presentation of the story ‘Little Red Riding hood’ was given by Ma’am Tamanna followed by an interesting story narration spruced up with props, enactment and an effective dialogue delivery.

The fun, laughter, surprise and expressions seen on everyone’s face was an indication of their contentment. The workshop had so much to take home for each and every participant.

Summing up the feedback of some teachers, the workshop was;
“Innovative and informative” ; “Beautifully executed workshop”; “Well invested time”; “Mesmerising and Captivating”; “All in all we learnt how to make learning fun and ensure that children enjoy the learning done in school happily”.

Rendering an energizing start to this session’s co-curricular activities, Spring
Dale, Gomti Nagar branch organised its first inter house sports event, the much awaited Inter House Volley Ball Tournament which kick started on 15th April, 2023.

The match began bang on time amidst a huge uproar of enthusiastic players and spectators who had gathered on all sides of the playground. In the semi-final round, Charity House defeated hope house by 16-14, 20-18 followed by Peace House winning over Joy House by a whopping score of 15-9, 16-14. The school ground echoed with cheers which could be heard loud and clear much beyond the school premises.

The final match was between the two winning teams of Charity and Joy in which charity outperformed the other and emerged as the winning house in this Inter House Volley Ball tournament.

Indira Gandhi Planetarium organised ‘Sun Watching’ session at Spring Dale School, Gomti Nagar Premises on 13 th May, 2023. More than 400 students watched the sun through telescopes. The planetarium arranged and installed two telescopes; the Lunt Solar telescope with H- alpha filter and Newtonian reflection telescope with Myler film solar filter for safe sun watching.

The Astronomy Club of India Gandhi Planetarium organized the whole event. They not only conducted huddles with students and made them aware about the sun, sunspots, solar flares, prominence, solar granules but also explained to them the working of telescopes, and the types of telescopes. Students were amazed to see the telescope, which was the first of its kind experience for many. They asked a lot of questions and were responded appropriately by the young astronomers of the Astronomy Club. The smiling and exuberant faces of the students conveyed more than can be put into words. Each of them had a different story to share and carried home with them an engaging experience that they will cherish all through their lives.

The much awaited ISC and ICSE results were declared today.
Spring Dale College students again brought laurels.

Celebrating the success as we keep soaring high….

In keeping with our founders’ belief that – sports should be an important and integral part of the school curriculum, we have been hosting two major sports events – Inter school Basket-ball & Volley ball tournament and also the inter school Table Tennis Tournament.

 

The VIII season of two-day B.S. Sood Memorial Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament that began on April 28, 2023 at our Gomti Nagar branch premises was smoothly conducted and drew to a stupendous close on April 29, 2023, among much fun and frolic. It was followed by the prize distribution ceremony that was held within the premises.

The winners of the tournament were – 1st Position Team Event boys – Spring Dale College Indira Nagar 1st Position Team Event Girls – La Martiniere Girls Running Trophy for the overall championship was bagged by La Martiniere Girls , with 25 points.

The trophies and medals were awarded by the President of the institution, Major S. K. Khanna and Directors, Ms. Sangita Midha, Ms. Reeta Khanna. The exciting event came to a close with a promise of meeting the budding players again next year with greater enthusiasm and vigor.

On April 24, 2023, Spring Dale College, Indira Nagar observed
“World Reading Day” with the theme SPRING DALE COLLEGE READING TOGETHER in recognition to the value of reading.

It is a proven truth that reading fosters creativity and imagination. It is an effective instrument for enhancing language and writing abilities. Students that read more often have better morals, ethics, and life lessons. The need of the hour is “reading” and indeed the celebration of “reading”, revives the good old habit of ‘reading.” Keeping the same in mind and to encourage reading, all the students read, together, their favourite books for almost 30 minutes at the very beginning of the school day. It was peaceful reading session that was observed on the occasion and was clearly visible that every single child enjoyed it.

Ashoka University building leaders of tomorrow through a multidisciplinary approach, visited all the Spring Dale College branches. The university offers an opportunity to pick and explore various career options from more than 200+ possible subject combinations.

The students were briefed about the new trends in careers and also how to keep themselves updated to be with the times.  The students also asked questions about their dream careers and doubts.

World water day is observed all over the world on March 22 to highlight the
importance of fresh water and to advocate the sustainable management of water resources. To mark the importance of this day, the students of our Institution conducted plethora of activities. To develop water sense in tiny taught, activities of finger printing on water drop cutouts and colouring of pictures depicting rain water harvesting were done by Pre-primary classes. Students of primary section displayed posters with novel ideas of low flow taps and drip irrigation methods.

Classes 6-8 exhibited collages to provoke judicious use of water resources.
Pla’cards and catchy slogans written by classes IX and X and the Nukkad Play presented by class 12 students on water depletion were some more awe-
inspiring initiatives taken up from March 22 to March 25, in order to ignite a spark for water conservation
