Awareness Week, a unique initiative of Spring Dale Institutions, marks the death anniversary of our Founder Father, Mr. B.S.Sood and is observed to pay homage to both our Founders and sensitize the students on a socially relevant topic. The motto is to build a socially and emotionally responsible society where the citizens are committed to harness changes for the growth / development and betterment of a stronger nation. This year’s theme for the Awareness Week was – ‘Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it and right is right even if no one is doing it. Take your stand’!
The event flag – started on 18 th July with the unveiling of the theme for the year. Each subsequent day witnessed a special assembly propelling the students to stand for the right and act in accordance with it. The students portrayed their thoughts through skit, poem recitation, dance, puppet show, video presentation and nukkad natak. Protecting oneself with the tag line… ‘A life full of dignity is my right. Always Be Careful’…. said a lot. Students learned how torturous and draining any kind of bullying can be and that they need to take a stand by building a trust zone where they can confide and report the problem. Protecting of our national property starting from school and home is what the students need to realize. The puppet show apprized the students not to scribble on the walls or litter around any public property and also stop others from doing this. The message ‘My asset, my pride, my responsibility to safeguard – Just Do It’ was apt for the day.
The one liner ‘Depleting natural resources, my concern… Act judiciously’ conveyed to the students that they can contribute in small ways to take the right approach for saving natural resources for example switching off the lights and fans, closing the taps after use, using bicycle, car-pooling, etc.
The use of plastic is harmful for our environment; this was exhibited through a dance along with a plastic ban anthem which strongly supported the message ‘Plastic the convenient solution, harsh consequences… Give It Up.’ Hence we need to say a firmer ‘NO’ to single use plastic and refrain ourselves from using it. A lyrical poem presented by the primary classes gave the message that we need to be compassionate towards all living beings and the environment as well. The punch line to convey this message ‘One for all and all for one… Be Just’. Being in this wonderful world is a blessing and we need to be grateful to each and every one around us. The message aptly given was ‘Gratitude is effortless but price less…Be Grateful….’ The thank you cards given by the children to any person of their choice reaffirmed this thought.
The week long program culminated on July 25 by paying homage to our founders with the garlanding and an all religion prayer followed by the summing up of the entire week’s program and a nukkad natak related to the theme. The President of the Institution, Major S.K. Khanna, the Directors – Mrs. Reeta Khanna and Mrs. Sangita Midha also graced the occasion. As a part of our endeavour to sensitize the society, the street play was also presented in the neighbourhood, Sadbhawna Park and it was well received by the
residents of the colony.
